Tim Barber – Interview with NYC based photographer and curator
“My name is Ian and I’m a film photographer shooting on 35mm and Medium Format.
If there is one thing I struggle with is calling my work something, as I find I photograph many different things I like – from nostalgic urban landscapes to minimalist shapes in natural environments to complex lighting set ups with people. However, I guess the ongoing theme with my work is one of isolation, sometimes in the sense of something being forgotten.
Photography is a solitary pursuit for me, and although I don’t think about it much, I guess this is somehow evident in the work that I do – in that it mirrors the process for me both physically and mentally.”
