What is the Course about?

What is a portrait? Is it about showing the essence of the subject, or is it a creative expression of the photographer? This is just one of the concepts that we look at on this very popular course. Portrait photography is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding and creative, genres of photography. On the last day, you’ll be working with individual models on location.

Course outline:

  • Introduction to portrait photography
  • Works of some renowned portrait photographers
  • Choosing the right lenses & other camera equipment for your subject
  • Managing & combining artificial & natural light sources
  • Studio lighting & on-camera flash/speedlights
  • Effective 1 light portait lighting
  • Working with models & model releases
  • Composition
  • Directing your subject, putting them at ease to achieve the best results

Level:
A good knowledge of the Beginners Photography and Intermediate Photography Course is required

  • Produce a series of portrait photographs for your artistic or commercial portfolio
