What is this course about?
The first half of the online course focuses on gaining a solid understanding of your camera and the technical aspects of digital photography. We cover all the fundamental elements: focus, focal length, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. You’ll learn to command your camera in full manual mode and discover how to use these settings creatively.
The second half shifts to design principles, teaching you to compose impactful images within your viewfinder. You’ll learn to ‘see’ as a photographer, developing skills to recognise and manage distracting elements. This section explores composition principles such as Object Balance, the Rule of Thirds, Negative Space and introduces the basics of post-production in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Throughout the course, you’ll engage in practical assignments and receive live feedback from your tutor. This hands-on approach, combined with review sessions, will guide you to create effective photo projects and compelling narratives through your photographs. You’ll also delve into the significance of contrast in your images, exploring pattern, colour, and brightness.
Upon completing this comprehensive online course, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to create visually striking and well-composed photographs that reflect your unique artistic perspective.
