Our Online Beginners Photography Course takes you through a 10-hour exploration of digital photography fundamentals. Designed to run over two days, this course provides an essential grounding in the field, merging key theoretical concepts with practical application. As the initial segment of our four-day Complete Foundation Photography Course, it offers an approachable entry into the world of photography. The course is delivered live via our virtual classroom, ensuring you get immediate answers to your questions, engaging discussions, and real-time feedback from our experienced tutors, wherever your location may be.

What is the course about?

Our Online Beginners Photography Course is tailored to provide you with a solid understanding of your camera and the technical aspects of digital photography.

By the end of this 10-hour course, you will master your camera in full manual mode to broaden your creative bandwidth. The course will enable you to express yourself through strong images while teaching you the order in which to set ISO, shutter speeds, and aperture for different situations. You will also delve into the creative possibilities of using slow and fast shutter speeds and achieving shallow and great depth of field.

As part of our unique learning approach, we encourage students to apply their knowledge through practical assignments. Supported by your tutor, you’ll engage with these projects in your local environment and receive live feedback in our virtual classroom. The comprehensive nature of this course ensures a strong footing in digital photography, equipping you to generate visually captivating images.   • DSLR & mirrorless cameras

  • Camera resolution & print size

  • File formats (JPG & RAW)

  • Lenses (focal lengths, macro, prime & zoom and what to use them for)

  • Autofocus (focusing points, autofocus lock, back-button focus)

  • Mastering Manual exposure (ISO, shutter speeds, aperture)

  • 18% grey card and when to under- and overexpose

  • Order in which to set ISO, shutter speeds, aperture for different situations

  • Metering Modes (Evaluative, Partial, Spot Metering)

  • Fast & slow shutter speeds, panning

  • Great and Shallow Depth of Field
